Frantisek Kaberle

Frantisek Kaberle (born November 8, 1973 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey defenseman who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League (NHL).

During the 2005-06 season he won with the Carolina Hurricanes his first Stanley Cup . Previously, he played for the Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta Thrashers. Frantisek was drafted 76th overall the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings. His brother Tomás Kaberle plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and his father, Frantisek Kaberle Sr. used to be in the Czech national ice hockey team as well.

Both of the Kaberle brothers were named to the Czech national ice hockey team for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Kaberle won the Stanley Cup in the 2005-2006 hockey season with the Carolina Hurricanes. He scored the game winning goal in the 2nd period of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers.

During the off-season before the 2006-2007 season, Kaberle suffered a shoulder injury, and was placed on the injured reserve September 13th, 2006. He is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 months.
